Frequently asked questions about cashmere

Frequently asked questions about cashmere

Cashmere's benefits and main features?

Most people choose cashmere because this fabric is distinguished by softness, smoothness, and elegance. These are its undoubted benefits. Cashmere clothes have only two features: they require special care and they are expensive. But if you've never bought cashmere clothes, you should try them. The fiber, derived from certain species of goats, differs from everything that you've worn before.

Why are cashmere clothes so expensive?

Cashmere is a 100% natural material that is obtained only manually by combing the undercoat of goats, which are specially bred for it. One goat can produce only about 200 g of cashmere in contrast to sheep which produce at least 3 kilograms of wool. As a result, the amount of produced cashmere is limited, but the demand from clothing manufacturers is quite high. The material's rarity, time-consuming process, and high demand are the main reasons for its high cost.

Why do prices for cashmere differ from brand to brand?

It depends on the quality, thickness, and length of threads used in production. For example, mass-market companies offer cheaper cashmere items because they use lower-quality fuzz. Its fibers are shorter and thicker. In addition, they can add synthetic fuzz that has an identical texture or use fluffy threads that create a deceptive feeling of softness. All of those things are might not be even indicated in the composition. Such items seem to be light, soft, and pleasant to the touch, however, they quickly lose their shape.

We buy yarn only from the best manufacturers, such as Loro Piano — the largest premium products manufacturer. Its items are made of ultra-fine wool and high-quality cashmere. That's why the quality of our clothes justifies the price, not vice versa.

How you can distinguish high-quality cashmere?

If you plan to buy cashmere clothes, make sure that their quality is high. A true cashmere doesn't shine, it has a smooth surface. If it shines, it means that the item has silk or synthetic fibers. Also, a true cashmere has thin fuzz fibers that are 4-6 times thinner than human hair. Synthetic fibers are denser and thicker, so in a ready item, they will look like a single, flat canvas. If you want to check the quality of the cashmere, gently stretch the item. High-quality cashmere won't change its shape, while low-quality items will remain stretched.

Can you wear cashmere in the summer?

Since cashmere is a natural fiber, it has a great ability to regulate the body's temperature. It keeps the body's heat in winter and acts as a light and breathable fabric in summer. Cashmere is a versatile fabric, so you can wear it when it's chilly and when it's warm. So it will be perfect for your summer capsule.

Are cashmere items handy?

Cashmere clothes are very handy. They are perfect both for evening walks and business meetings. We offer jumpers, suits and hats made of natural cashmere.

Do cashmere items last long?

The biggest advantage of cashmere is that it is a very breathable fabric, so you don't need to do the laundry often. With proper care, cashmere clothes won't lose their shape or appearance and will delight you for many years.
